Tent, Caravan and Cottage
Welcome to Grateful Estate Camping & Caravaning. We are situated in Bainsvlei on the R64 (Also spelled Bain's Vlei), in a small-farm suburb 10 minutes from Bloemfontein's City Centre.
Our camping area is basic with rustic Toilet, Shower and Kitchen Zinc. We are also expanding to accommodate bush camps for 4x4 enthusiasts.
We have camp sites for a few caravans and 6 tents close to a bathroom and more options further away camping spots about 50m away. (This is not a caravan park though, just an overnight camping spot)
There are large veld lawns where children can run around, a pool for cooling off, short walks near horses and sheep to a giant eucalyptus (Blue-gum tree), or enjoy your refreshments, barbeque / braai / picnic, at one of our braai spots, under a tree in the garden. Just before sun-rise / sunset is a great time for bird watching or nature lovers: See if you can spot the Guinea-fowl, Franklin, Giant Spotted Eagle-Owl, and some wild rabbits. Sunset is also when it feels like we're in the bushveld with chattering guinea fowl in the distance, and when an orange-red African sunset closes off the day. At night most of Bloemfontein's city lights are hidden behind a few nearby hills giving us amazing starlit skies, even though we're only 10km from the Bloemfontein City Centre.
We have been operating since 2007, following in the legacy of my parents, Don & Charlene, who's constant hospitality challenged us to make the most of this property, just as they opened their doors to travelers and God-sends on and off for as long as I can remember. Since 2007 we have had the privilege of accommodating or entertaining guests from Australia, Botswana, Brazil, Canada, England, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Kenya, Lesotho, Madagascar, Mozambique, Namibia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Russia, Scotland, Slovakia, South Africa, Swaziland, Uruguay, USA, Wales, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
PLEASE NOTE: Grateful Estate is small 4.2Ha farm and therefore does not offer a city guest house or hotel experience, but rather a guest farm atmosphere close to the city centre.
